Enhancing community-led sea turtle conservation efforts. Efforts in sea turtle conservation align with the larger goal of preserving biodiversity and maintaining the health of marine ecosystems.
Program Activities
Antipoaching Patrol
Conducting patrols in collaboration with Turtle Conservation Groups (TCGs), Beach Management Units (BMUs) and Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to counteract sea turtle poaching.
Awareness Campaign
Promoting sea turtle ambassadorship among the fisherfolk groups
Conservation Education
Incorporating behavioral change towards sea turtles in the society and to debunk ancestral myths impacting sea turtle population.
Nesting Patrol
Holding morning beach patrols in collaboration with community Turtle Conservation Groups for crawl identification and assessment of nesting incidences.
